Chifley Research Centre event to commemorate the dismissal of the Whitlam Government

The Chifley Research Centre and friends invite you to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Dismissal of the Whitlam Government.

50 years since that fateful day, it’s time to join friends and comrades to celebrate the Whitlam Government and lament the events that saw our Prime Minister, the great Gough Whitlam, dismissed by the Queen’s representative, Governor-General Sir John Kerr.

Join us at Victorian Trades Hall to hear Labor’s National President, The Hon Wayne Swan, reflect on the greatest constitutional crisis in our nation’s history.

Whitlam Government MP, David McKenzie, will share his memories of serving in Gough’s government, and of that shocking day in November 1975.

Finger food and drinks will be provided in the Fringe Common Rooms, where you can join in the singing with the Victorian Trades Hall Choir.
