Chifley 2023 at the National Press Club in Canberra on 4-5 February – Last Minute Details

Our Chifley 2023 Conference, takes place on 4 and 5 February at the National Press Club in Canberra, just days before the start of the Federal Parliament sittings. The conference theme is “Governing for Purpose: entrenching reforms, growth and inclusion”. It will focus on progressive public policy thinking from the perspective of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and its international partners.

Chifley 2023 will be the first major Federal ALP Conference held following the election of the Albanese Labor Government, and Prime Minister Albanese is delivering a keynote address. We have confirmed strong group of ALP ministers, public policy makers, progressive thinkers and international guests to join the PM as presenters, including Treasurer Jim Chalmers, Finance Minister Senator Katy Gallagher, Minister Linda Burney, Minister Tony Burke and renowned labour historian, Professor Frank Bongiorno.

Chifley 2023 will cover a range of sub-themes and plenary topics, including the implementation of the Uluru Voice, the key elements of inclusive growth, and the lessons that Progressive governments are learning while in power. It will also address the importance of building capacity to govern and restoring public sector capability.
