The Chifley Research Centre is a leading progressive think-tank in Australia.

Established in 1996, the CRC is a research centre with a close relationship to the Australian Labor Party, the union movement and the broader progressive community. The CRC is seeking a passionate, dynamic Organiser to help it grow, increase its influence and build on a number of years of successful public engagement.


The Chifley Organiser role is responsible for research, operational events management and maintenance of the digital presence of the Chifley Research Centre, as well as helping organise activities intended to promote a Labor culture of ideas.  

We are looking for a self-starter and analytical thinker, with some events management or organising experience, strong creative ability and the capacity to produce engaging, valuable work.

Primary duties will comprise research, administrative and creative tasks, and will include (but not be limited to) social media communications development and management, event organisation (including digitally hosted) and stakeholder liaison.

The Chifley Organiser will work with the Executive Director, assisting 

  • Enlarging the resources and supporter base of the Centre, including organising fundraising activities and compelling public events.
  • Increasing the activity and profile of the Centre.
  • Supporting sound public policy development.

The role is part-time initially, with potential for flexible working hours by negotiation, and possible opportunities to expand in future.  A competitive remuneration package will be paid.
