The Chifley Research Centre hosted a celebration for the centenary of the election of the Fisher Labor government at Old Parliament House in Canberra.

In early June the Chifley Research Centre hosted a celebration for the centenary of the election of the Fisher Labor government at Old Parliament House in Canberra.
The dinner was attended by the Prime Minister Hon Kevin Rudd MP and many members of the Labor movement.
Senator Hon John Faulkner outlined the achievements of the Fisher government and spoke about Fisher's enduring reformist legacy which inspires Labor governments to this day.
The Prime Minister gave the headline address and he built upon the legacy of the Fisher government and the nation building achievements by that government.
Some of the achievements of the Fisher government include:
- First majority Labor government in the world
- First federal majority government in Australia
- Legislated for a Commonwealth Bank
- Legislated for a Commonwealth capital to be in Canberra
- Created Australia's first uniform currency
- Heavily invested in maternity allowance and aged pension
